Your recycle bin needs a break! Here’s how to help.
We all need a break sometimes and so does your recycle bin!
All these years we were taught to buy products in a single use container because it is recyclable. That would be great if it got recycled properly, didn't take resources to recycle, and wasn't forced on us to determine how to recycle it.
Step 1 - know your resin codes! Check with your local facility to see what they take. Did you know that clear and white plastics are more desirable to purchase for makers because they can be blended easily with other colors? This also increases the potential to actually get recycled!
Step 2 - reuse!! we love seeing you reuse your containers to refill! there are so many great ways to reuse everything possible! Just may need to get a little creative. And we can save some resources that go into recycling. Just think of a world with empty recycle bins because we choose to reuse instead of buy our same containers over and over again.
Step 3 - share! can someone else use what you're going to put in your recycle bin? can it be donated or given away? Yes, we will take your clean scent free jars! These get reused by other folks again and again. The more we can keep out of the waste stream the better!
Step 4 - maybe don't buy your recycling. Bring your own bag, or container or purchase the product without packaging. Why keep buying those containers and recycling them when you can reuse them?
Step 5 - upcycle! This is the most fun! Can you make a fort with those boxes for the kids or cats? Maybe some home made decorations? Let's give it a few more lives before we send these things off to the recycle bin!
Your recycle bin definitely needs a break! Let's help give it one!
